Influences of Spectral Power Distribution on Circadian Energy, Visual Comfort and Work Performance

Spectral power distribution (SPD) is an essential element that has considerable implications on circadian energy and the perception of lit environments. The present study assessed potential influences SPD consumption (i.e., considering energy), visual comfort, work performance mood. Two lighting conditions based light-emitting diode (LED) organic (OLED) were used as proxies for SPDs different spectral content: dominant peak wavelength 455 nm 618 (OLED). Using measured photometric values, light (CL), melatonin suppression (MS), efficacy (CE) two sources estimated via a circadian-phototransduction model compared. Additionally, twenty-six participants asked to evaluate said environments subjectively in terms comfort self-reported performance. Regarding associated implications, LED source induced higher biological actions with relatively less than OLED source. For lighting-based preferred conditions, while opposite was true when current adds on-going debate regarding human-centric lighting, particularly role energy-efficient practices.
